We stayed at Villa Yolo in August for our family holiday in Almyrida/Aspro and had the most wonderful time. The villa was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you might need if you want to cook (though we mostly ate out). The pool and the views were absolutely amazing, and the hosts were so thoughtful and helpful. For example, when my children wanted bedside lamps to read at night, they brought some over for us — such a kind and generous gesture. One of the real highlights for us was the cats that came by every day. If you’re a cat lover, you’ll be in heaven — our kids were entertained for hours between the pool and the cats, and honestly could have stayed at the villa all week without needing anything else! The beach is a bit of a walk downhill (which we enjoyed during the day), but we never walked back at night. A taxi from the beach to the villa cost between €7–9 and took just a few minutes, so it wasn’t a problem at all. We also did a day trip to Chania harbour which was lovely, and ate at some fantastic restaurants along the seafront. The beach at Almyrida is safe and family-friendly, the people are warm and welcoming, and the food was excellent everywhere we went. If I had to suggest anything, I’d say the villa could do with a few more homely touches — perhaps some bedside tables, softer lighting, or a bit of artwork on the walls — but that’s a very minor point and probably just my personal sensitivity. Overall, it was an immaculate, well-looked-after villa with amazing hosts, great views, and everything you need for a perfect family holiday. We would happily recommend Villa Yolo and would love to return!

This was a perfect villa for our family. The outside space is exceptional, the beds comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well and was very quiet. The roof terrace was a great place to watch the sunset and admire the gorgeous view It is a 20-25 minute downhill walk to Almyrida which has great restaurants - we ate out every night and didn't have a bad meal. Obviously the walk back up the hill takes longer but we mostly grabbed a taxi back for 7 euros (10/12 euros for the bigger MPV/minibus). The villa Yolo team were attentive and communicative which meant our stay was stress-free. There are wild (friendly) cats in the area and they visited the villa (outside) frequently. This didn't bother us at all but something to be mindful of if you have allergies.
