Great location for walks in the area, good and plentiful breakfast. Tea picking and firefly experiences were super (and good value add-ons). Really appreciated how much the host family and extended family do to make you feel welcome in their home, to communicate and to help as needed. Breakfast was really plentiful and varied the two mornings we were there. The set up meant that breakfast time, the experiences and tea drinking in the evenings, we had lovely interactions with the various interesting other guests.

Far exceeded expectations. Very authentic homestay experience with warm hospitality from the host, her family and staff. Learnt much about the history and culture of local tea production. Also delighted by the firefly tour (a once in a lifetime experience), as well as the playful company of OK the 3-legged dog and her 4 cat pals. Room was comfy with adequate amenities; breakfast was yummy; location was decent (short walk from town centre and hiking trails) too. The highlight was truly the hosts who went the extra mile to accommodate all our needs and make us feel right at home. Highly recommended!

Perfect homestay experience - friendly host, interesting activities (fireflies tour, tea picking & roasting) and house pets. Set right in the middle of their tea plantation with a picturesque view. Really appreciate that they arranged someone to pick me up from the bus station too! Thank you!

Tianyi Homestay was a wonderful experience; it’s in a beautiful location surrounded by tea fields, the food was great. It was one of our most unique and memorable stays of our trip - don’t miss this opportunity if you are travelling up to Alishan!

The property is a homestay in an area of homestays. Building smart hotels is thankfully banned so there is a shortage of accommodation which pushes up the prices. It's rustic / basic but its in a beautiful area. Very friendly. Decent (non Western) breakfast. Location is the key - walking distance to many trails (quite hard to locate from the homestay map). It's a beautiful area. Lots of decent restuarants a short drive away. Coming to this area to see the sun rise set is popular with the Taiwanese and the tourists. Walks accompnied by the resident 3 legged "OK". Set on a tea plantation, you can pick tea and they do night tours to see the fireflies.

Our hosts were very welcoming, we loved getting to make some tea which helped us understand and appreciate the tea process more, we also enjoyed the firefly tour. The breakfast they cooked was delicious and we liked how all the rooms came off a central living and dining space which felt very communal and friendly. The farm is a short walk from the centre of Shizhuo and close to beautiful hiking trails through tea farms.

The hosts were very accomodating and helpful. They tried their best to make each guest feel welcomed and shared their passion for tea culture. Definitely try the tea picking experience, the tea plantation is right at their door step. OK’s their dog; she helped to guide hikers on various paths.
AY “A magical "studio ghibli -liked" experience”

It was a magical "studio ghibli -liked" experience. We had a firefly tour in the evening then tea picking experience the next day (at an affordable additional cost for the activities). We particularly loved the tea picking experience as it was our first time (and I believe a rather rare opportunity) to experience picking leaves from the plantation, drying them and packing them into paper bags which we could bring home as souvenirs. It was also culturally immersive to hear the process of tea making while having tea and chatting with the hosts and other travellers. The hosts were pleasant and friendly people who helped us in getting our way around Alishan and down the mountain to Chiayi train station. It's actually more convenient than I thought. There is a three-legged pet dog (and pet cats!) called OK at the homestay. On our last day the host got OK to bring us to the bus stop and she did a good job doing that. Was simply amazing! If you wanna experience the activities here be sure to note the months: - Firefly watching: April, May, June - Tea picking and making: April till December - Sunset and sea of clouds view: March till November - Avoid the months of summer heat from May to October.

the view from the window was lovely and the overall location on the tea farm was the perfect quiet getaway! Bed was also super comfortable and the room was clean. Bonus was the adorable cats and dog who live on the property:)
