Mari is a fantastic host, a star-worthy cook, and a great communicator - easily one of the best hosts I’ve met in all my travels. This is a down-to-earth place that may currently lack a few comforts, like private bathrooms (they’re being built), but it more than makes up for it with the love Mari has poured into every detail. Blooming flowers brighten the garden. A cozy terrace is filled with couches. Hammocks and a canopy swing invite you to soak in the breathtaking surroundings. And the food… just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Nearly every dish is prepared with homegrown or homemade ingredients, and Mari’s cooking is simply unforgettable. What makes the experience even better is Mari herself. She speaks English well, is full of knowledge about the region she grew up in, and shares it generously in pleasant conversations on the terrace. At the same time, she is never intrusive and always gives you space. Even before and after the stay, her thoughtfulness stood out. I was traveling with my mother, and Mari kindly asked ahead of time if we would prefer a room with two separate beds. A few days before our arrival, she reached out to suggest pooling a car ride over the pass with other guests. When it was time to leave, she arranged a car for us, gifted us a lunch bag,band even checked in to ensure we caught our bus to Tbilisi without a hitch. Mari, thank you so much for giving my mother and me memories we will cherish for years to come. I can’t wait to return and share the beauty of the Caucasus — and your warm hospitality — with my friends!
