“A hidden gem in Midigama!”

This is the tropical paradise you were looking for in Midigama. Really lovely family-run homestay, great location, fantastic service, soothing garden... just a stone's throw from the sea (and the train station in case you are arriving / leaving by train). Tranquil, simple, relaxing, comfortable, clean, inexpensive, secluded. It's a hidden gem. Highly recommended! You will wish you stayed longer... so I did.

Wonderful kind hosts who offered tea and arranged a bicycle for me. Very friendly. , best breakfast I had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka with freshly cooked roti and dhal. Clean room and bathroom and easy to walk into Midigama.

“Amazing, relaxing, heartwarming stay”

Truly amazing, relaxing, heartwarming stay. I stayed at Aurora Guesthouse for 2 months (from October to December), and it was quite tough to leave. Beyond a neat, clean and functional room with solid fibre Wi-Fi and a private terrace, you will meet the kindest of families. « Amma » (mother) makes amazing food (fish curry and chicken biryani being my favourite!) The father « Thaaththa » and the 3 children are also always eager to help whenever you need it. The location is perfect, far enough to avoid hearing hustle and bustle from the main road and train tracks, yet close enough to the beach (Lazy Left and Lazy Right surf breaks are a 5-minute walk away!) local fish stand, supermarket, bakery, bus station etc. Other surf spots are a 5-10 minute scooter ride away (Weligama, Ahangama) which makes the location very convenient if you want to try out different spots. The family arranged an affordable scooter rental for me (with the possibility to install a surf rack!) If you’re looking for a relaxing, affordable, and cosy surf or non-surf stay, this is the place for you. Thank you for being such amazing hosts, I will definitely be back soon! Warm hugs, Alexandre
