The fine print
Non-members of Hostelling International (HI) must purchase the membership card at the hostel upon arrival. The card costs EUR 7 for individuals aged 26 and under, EUR 22.50 for individuals aged 27 and over or families per year, and EUR 3.50 for foreign travellers per night.

Very nice atmosphere, historical yard, surrounded by the forest. Super clean and comfortable. While it requires some 20 min walk to the city center, the living quarter is very green, with elegant old villas, cafes and forest nearby .

The vibes from the staff were great, and the hostel is in a really nice and quiet part of Aachen. Although the hostel is locked after 23:00, you can still get in with a key if you check in between 13:00 and 23:00. Nice for an overnight and if id had longer I would have explored the area more.
