Philip “A good base from which to explore Funchal”

The shuttle bus from the airport dropped us just round the corner from the street this property is in. Reception is on the first floor and we were warmly welcomed and shown around. There is a communal kitchen with microwave, crockery etc - no stovetop but we were told about the in-store restaurant at a local supermarket, which was great. Also on this floor is a sitting room which leads onto a terrace with a fine view of Funchal. Our room (with bathroom) was on the 4th floor (good exercise, all those stairs!) and was simple but also had a view over Funchal. From the hospedaria we could walk into town (takes about 20 minutes) to see the sights

The location was close to the main attractions of the city . The lounge and its terrace ad fantastic mountain and castle views! The staff was so helpful and ready to help with good heart!

The hotel was about 15 minutes walk from the seafront. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly. I was texted helpful information about airport transfers and entry codes. Overall it was about the standard I expected for budget accomodation.

The staff were delightful and super helpful around local guidance, buses and how to get around. The room was Spartan but did the trick.
